What is OctaneRPG?
OctaneRPG is a car-culture RPG you play on your PC. You live in Aurora Hills, a hillside city that is quiet by day and loud on weekend nights, and you work your way up from a borrowed beater to the top of the ladder.
It started life as a Discord bot. It is now a standalone game with a walkable town. The Discord bot is a read-only viewer.
The loop
- Earn: work jobs at the Job Board, search the junkyard, scrap what you don’t need.
- Upgrade: install parts in your garage and watch the dyno sheet.
- Race: the Zeroyon drag strip, Chibi GP, ranked matches and street races.
- Progress: level up, clear challenges, climb the ladder.
- Show off: your ID Card, titles and badges, the leaderboard, your crew.
The social side (crews, meets, leaderboards) is never required.
How the game feels
- Every system lives somewhere in town, not in a menu. You walk to the garage, the Job Board, the junkyard and the strip, and interact with the building or the person behind it.
- Races are battles. Your car’s stats and parts decide the result, and the dyno tells you what a part will do before you bolt it on.
- The server is the referee. Prices, odds and outcomes are decided online, so you need an internet connection and your progress follows your account.
