Crime and heat
The Back Alley (level 10) is where the money is faster and the risk is real. Respect from Own The Pavement is quick and leads back to jail; that is the story’s warning, and heat is the game’s version of it.
Crimes
| Job | Notes |
|---|---|
| Junkyard Rob | |
| Employer Steal | |
| Transport Run | |
| Lay Low | Cool things down |
| Bank Heist | Three phases: Approach, Wires, Vault (pick one of three) |
A bank heist is played out in phases, then resolved as success, partial or failure.
Heat
- The heat flame on your HUD fills as you do crime. It also tracks your highest heat as a career stat.
- High heat brings police attention, which leads to chases.
- A chase is a minigame: surrender, or escape and time the needle. The same minigame appears in street races.
Faction effects
TEF notices dirty work, and reckless chases drop their respect sharply. OTP work raises heat and OTP’s attention. You can have high respect with both, at a cost.
